Irori no ie

Irori no ie

“I Want to Spend Time with My Family and Friends Around the irori*”

We built a compact one-story house with a large opening next to the main house, designed to enhance the family gathering experience. The water source is ample enough to accommodate various uses, ensuring functionality. For the project, we utilised Mortex, a plaster material about 2-3 millimetres thick, known for its excellent waterproofing, strength, and aesthetic appeal. This cozy cabin serves as a beautiful and functional addition to the property, promising many years of enjoyment.

We hope that the time spent in the irori no ie will create cherished memories of Yatsugatake for generations to come.

*Irori is a traditional Japanese hearth used for heating and cooking.
