Shimizu Sawmill

The client, Shimizu Sawmill, is a lumber company. This project was a big endeavor; Sobokuya worked on this plant which started operations in the Summer of 2021 . It's a big place, so large that one could easily have a 40 metre red pine log milled into a taiko drum within this space. For this project we made full use of long red pine drum beams, W-beams, and lower bundles to create a large space without a single column. A skylight windows was installed, letting in plenty of sunlight. The gate is a massive iron gate, a custom-made product.
