Imai Residence

This sturdy and vigorous house is the home of Hisashi Imai, the representative director of Sobokuya. Of course, it was designed and built by Sobokuya. Built using a traditional wooden frame construction method. The front wall is made of cypress bark; this is often seen in temples in Nara. The doorway is elegant and simple, it has a wabi-sabi atmosphere. The restrooms are also a delight. At first glance it looks as if it has been built by an amateur, but everything has been calculated down to the smallest detail, creating quite an atmosphere. You could say that this house is the starting point of Sobokuya. It may not be a house for everyone, but the ones who fancy a rustic design are sure to fall in love with it.
