T.Y. Residence

In this house Sobokuya renovated the dining room and kitchen. The face-to-face kitchen and the magnificent drum beam separating it from the dining space gives an impression of openness. However, prior to the renovation, the ceiling was quite low, and the room felt closed in and claustrophobic. The ceilings were raised to the full height of the building structure and covered with bright larch boards. The floor is also made of larch. By turning the walls white, the dining room and kitchen have been transformed into a bright and spacious space. The owner’s hobby is weaving, and Sobokuya will also be in charge of building them a weaving atelier next to the house.
